We have a circuit for those who are looking to soak up more nature and want to co-experience the Tortuguero park before or after the Caribbean beach. Between San Jose and Puerto Viejo is the wonderful Tortuguero Park, primary nesting habitat for sea turtles from July to November. Departure from San Jose is at 5:20 in the morning. We recommend staying two nights in Tortuguero, where the first day you arrive at Caño Blanco where you take a boat through the main channel to go to the northern part of Tortuguero National Park. The second day aboard a canoe you travel through the jungle exploring hidden lagoons and canals, as you go deeper into the jungle, the canals become narrower and the wildlife begins to come closer. It is a very enriching experience as you are accompanied all the way by an expert naturalist of the area. After the walk we return to the hotel for breakfast and then check out and head back to Caño Blanco and then continue the trip to Cari-blue.
